The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Ecological Genomics to join its Ecological Genetics Group within the Biodiversity and Conservation Biology research unit.
The position is part of TreeGD, a four-year project funded by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU). The project investigates the genetic diversity and adaptive potential of key and secondary tree species in Switzerland’s forest gene conservation areas, including their seed resources.
The selected researcher will coordinate the sampling of tree material, analyse genome-wide sequencing data from multiple species, and develop indicators of genetic diversity, differentiation and adaptation. The results will inform practical recommendations for conservation and seed collection.
Applicants should hold a PhD in biology, forestry or environmental sciences, with strong expertise in ecological genetics, population genomics and evolutionary biology, ideally in forest trees. Fluency in English and at least one Swiss national language is required.
WSL offers a stimulating, collaborative research environment within the ETH Domain, dedicated to sustainable environmental management and biodiversity conservation.
