IUFRO webinar to explore assisted migration and landscape breeding for forest adaptation

Join IUFRO’s new webinar series on 25 September. Prof. Milan Lstibůrek explores assisted migration and landscape breeding for resilient forests, moderated by Dr Debojyoti Chakraborty.

The IUFRO Working Party 2.02.05 will launch a new webinar series on 25 September 2025, featuring leading experts on forest tree breeding and genetic resources.

The opening session will be delivered by Prof. Milan Lstibůrek of the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague. His presentation, titled “Integrating Pollen-Based Assisted Migration and Rolling-Front Landscape Breeding for Forest Adaptation under Climate Change”, will take place online from 18:00 to 19:00 CEST.

The session will be moderated by Dr Debojyoti Chakraborty, Senior Scientist at the Austrian Research Centre for Forests (BFW) in Vienna. Dr Chakraborty also serves as Coordinator of the IUFRO Working Party 2.02.05 on Breeding and Genetic Resources of Pacific Northwest Conifers.

The series is designed to bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from across the globe to exchange knowledge on the breeding and genetic resources of Pacific Northwest conifers. Participants will gain perspectives on the latest research, practical applications, and forward-looking strategies for conserving and sustainably managing forest genetic resources.

The initiative aims to strengthen international collaboration and promote innovative approaches to forest adaptation in the face of climate change.
