The OptFORESTS final conference will take place as a dedicated symposium within the FORESTT International Conference, which will be held from 5 to 7 October 2027 at the Robert Schuman Congress Centre in Metz, France. Our symposium is titled Conservation and sustainable management of forest genetic resources for biodiversity, climate resilience and society.
The session will bring together work on the conservation, characterisation and sustainable use of forest genetic resources, and on the contribution these resources make to biodiversity, to adaptation under a changing climate and to society more broadly. The call for abstracts is now open, and the deadline for submissions is 13 December 2026. Abstracts may be submitted for either oral presentations or poster contributions.
We warmly encourage colleagues from across the OptFORESTS consortium to submit, and we would equally welcome contributions from researchers, forestry professionals, and policy experts working outside the project.

The conference is coordinated by INRAE as part of FORESTT, the French research programme on forest resilience, with the backing of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). It is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants from academia, research organisations, public institutions, the forestry sector, and civil society.
More than 30 symposia are arranged across six thematic areas, covering ecological and evolutionary processes, biotic interactions and forest health, monitoring and modelling, forest management and adaptation, governance and the bioeconomy, and the relationship between science, policy and education. Submissions from early career researchers and doctoral students are particularly encouraged.
