The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) is offering a two-year post-doc position in functional and evolutionary ecology titled “Assessing ecological and evolutionary processes in forests with assisted gene flow to rationalise management options“.
The selected postdoc candidate will be based at the INRAE Research Unit on Mediterranean Forest Ecology (URFM, Avignon, France), and will interact with other partners of the FloRes project (CEFE and ISEM, Montpellier, France; National Forest Service), as well as European research group partners of the EU-funded OptFORESTS project.
The post-doctorate will investigate the short-term and long-term eco-evolutionary consequences of competition, selection, and hybridization in mixtures of Abies species, to evaluate the benefits and risks of practices promoting cross-species gene flow in the context of climate change. More specifically, the selected candidate will assess the adaptive value of multi-trait phenotypes in different climatic and management scenarios, and use this information to assess the eco-evolutionary consequences of assisted gene flow management options.
The postdoc candidate will receive support from the model developers and engineers working on the Capsis platform. This interdisciplinary research will be supervised by François Lefèvre, Nicolas Martin and Julie Gaüzere.
